A consortium of tertiary education institutions delivering both in-person and remote learning across South Africa. With a growing student base and BYOD trends increasing, they needed infrastructure to support secure, flexible learning while protecting sensitive student records.
The Challenge.
Remote access to lab resources, student privacy regulations, and device management complexity were escalating. IT teams were struggling to deliver virtual environments at scale, and lacked controls for safeguarding academic data.
The Solution.
We deployed VMware Horizon with App Volumes to enable on-demand lab environments. UEM (Unified Endpoint Management) was implemented to manage and secure diverse student and faculty devices. NSX micro-segmentation protected sensitive academic and health records, while vSAN enabled cost-effective data storage for e-learning content.
The Result.
Students and faculty now access virtual learning environments securely and on demand. The institution meets POPIA requirements for data protection, and IT has gained the flexibility to scale services without sacrificing control or compliance.
